About me
Cara is a senior associate in the Social & Economic Policy division at Abt Associates, focusing on program evaluation, research design, and evidence synthesis. She is currently managing a national evaluation of one of the U.S. Department of Education's technical assistance programs and is the co-lead of the dissemination team for the Prevention Services Clearinghouse. Cara is particularly interested in using research and evaluation to improve youth outcomes and support improvement efforts in schools, districts, and state educational agencies. In addition to her work at Abt, Cara is currently the president-elect of the Association for Education Finance and Policy.
Previously, Cara taught in New York City public schools, conducted research and evaluation in Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland, and refined a teacher evaluation system for Urban Teachers, a residency-based teacher preparation program. She earned her Ph.D. in Education Policy and an advanced certificate in Education Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation from the University of Maryland. Her master’s degree is from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Cara is a proud Cohort 5 alum and previously served on the Strategic Data Project alumni council.
