About me
In my ten years as a teacher, I helped start a school in Harlem, developed and headed professional development as a lead teacher at the American Museum of Natural History, conducted climatology research at Columbia University and won regional and national awards for my work teaching Earth Science. After teaching, I received my doctorate at Teachers College, started work as a Program Officer and then a Research Associate and finally a Senior Education Researcher at Math for America, advancing in my skills designing and evaluating professional learning for over one thousand public school math and science teachers in New York City. In my current position as the Director of Internal Research at EL Education, I utilize design-based research and improvement science to understand what is working and where using mixed methods across our nation-wide portfolio of schools and districts that utilize our whole school model as well as our many curricular services, each advancing a vision of student achievement that reaches the whole child.
In my free time, I serve as adjunct faculty on the American Museum of Natural History, kayak on the Hudson River, and spend time outside with my wife and two sons.
